We collect no personal data. Not in Sandkeeper, not in Stellar Nursery, and not on this website.
No accounts, no analytics, no ads, no tracking, and nothing is ever sent to us. The rest of this page explains what that means in practice, including what the stores and services we rely on do on their side.
This policy is from Portias Publishing LLC, which does business as Portia Plays, and covers our games Sandkeeper and Stellar Nursery on every platform they are sold on, and the website portiaplays.com.
Sandkeeper
Sandkeeper does not connect to the internet to do anything of ours. It has no account, no server, no analytics and no advertising.
What stays on your device
- Your save: your bottles, your pages, your cottage and your settings are stored on your computer or iPad, and nowhere else by us.
- Photographs you take in the game are saved to your own device: on a computer, in your Pictures folder under Sandkeeper; on an iPad, in the Files app under Sandkeeper. The game does not ask for access to your photo library, camera, microphone, contacts or location.
Sharing a bottle with a friend
A bottle can be turned into a code, a short piece of text that you copy and send to a friend however you like. The code holds only the bottle: its shape, its sand, and any stickers on it. It never holds the bottle's name, the date you made it, or anything about you. Codes travel only the way you send them; they never pass through us.
The game reads your clipboard only when you tap to paste a code from a friend, and only to look for that code.
Stellar Nursery
Stellar Nursery works the same way. It has no account, no server, no analytics and no advertising, and it never sends anything to us.
- Your save stays on your computer.
- Any voice you hear from P.O.R.T.I.A. is a recording that comes inside the game and plays from its own files, on your computer. Nothing she says, and nothing you do, is sent anywhere.
- Buttons in the game that lead to our Steam page open it in your web browser. Nothing else in the game opens a web page.
Steam and the App Store
You buy and download our games through stores run by other companies, and those stores handle their own data under their own policies, which we do not control.
Steam
On Steam, Valve runs your purchase, your library, achievements, cloud saves and the Steam overlay, under Valve's privacy policy. The games tell Steam when you earn an achievement, so Steam can show it on your profile. Valve gives us totals, such as how many people wishlisted or bought a game, and it never tells us who you are.
The App Store (Sandkeeper on iPad)
On the App Store, Apple runs your purchase, downloads, updates and device backups, under Apple's privacy policy. If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your device settings, Apple may pass us anonymous totals and crash reports that do not identify you. You can turn that off in Settings, under Privacy & Security, then Analytics & Improvements. Sandkeeper does not track you across apps or websites.
This website
- No cookies, no analytics, no ads and no tracking scripts.
- Our fonts and pictures are served from this site itself, so reading a page does not contact any other company.
- Trailers are hosted on YouTube, but nothing loads from YouTube until you press play on one. Once you do, the video plays from YouTube's privacy enhanced player, and Google's privacy policy applies to it.
- Our site is hosted by Netlify. Like any web host, it handles the technical details of your visit, such as your IP address, in order to send you the page, under Netlify's privacy policy. We have not turned on any analytics there.
- Links to Steam carry a short tag in the address that tells Steam which of our pages you came from. Steam reports those to us only as totals.
- Links to X, YouTube and the stores take you to their sites, where their own policies apply.
If you write to us, we will have your email address and whatever you put in your message. We use it only to reply to you, we never add you to a mailing list, and we never share it. Ask us and we will delete it.
Children
Because we collect nothing from anyone, we collect nothing from children either. Sandkeeper and Stellar Nursery can be played without sharing any personal information at all.
If this changes
If we ever change how our games or this site handle information, we will update this page and the date at the top before the change reaches you.
